Day 14: I’ll drink to that

Day 14 – Your favorite song from the Black Celebration era

I think today’s challenge is easily won by “Black Celebration.” Dark. Intense. Urgent. It also has special memories attached – he first time I heard “Black Celebration” was when it was played live in Sacramento on the Exciter Tour (DM: please come back!). This was the first time I’d seen Depeche live and I had only been a fan for 2-3 years. I’d delved into all the albums from Music for the Masses forward, plus Speak and Spell. Most of the 82-86 non-single tracks had yet to be explored, so when the band busted this out, its epicness warped my young mind (in the best way).

Honorable mentions: “Stripped”, “New Dress”

Amanda

Amanda is an enthusiastic, globe-trotting Mode fan who discovered the band in late 1998. Although she often feels like she got a late start in the Depeche Mode's career, she's survived nearly 20 years of the fandom, five new albums and multiple meetings with her love for the band intact (and stronger than ever). Amanda is a life-long creative, a classically trained graphic designer, working professionally as a User Experience Designer for one of the world's largest technology companies. When not at work or traveling for Depeche, she enjoys character illustration, comics, movies and Japanese Culture. And cats. Lots of Cats.
