Leipzig Concert

OMFG SPOILERS!

OK, it’s 2am so I need to make this brief! I’m utterly exhausted. We got in line around 8:30am and it was mostly sunny all day. Getting into the show f’ng sucked as far as crowd control but we managed to fight for our life (including a 100+ yard mad dash for front rail). We managed 2nd row, but it was right in front of Dave’s mic (score). The tunnel we ran through was full of feathers and fuzzies.. I ended up inhaling one and nearly vomited from coughing, not being able to catch my breath AND the near heatstroke from the hour they made us stand around in a mob that made sardines seem comfortable. Not to mention there are a ton of smokers here, and despite my obvious struggling to breathe and my friends busting out their inhalers, a chick stared right at us and kept lighting up one after another (not to mention others smoking next to us while we’re trying not to die of heat/lack of fresh air.
However… it was all worth it once it was said and done. We had a few hours to mellow out once in the venue, which was nice. But the big highlight of this show for me? Dave serenaded Tara and I during ‘Fly on the Windscreen’ for nearly two verses! We exchanged all kinds of non-verbal comm and smiles and he blew us kisses! We wonder if he saw us both wearing our ‘Hourglass’ t-shirts? But damn I’m high as a kite from that, AND ‘In Your Room’ we got some attention too! Dancing and waving and smiling together with Dave… aiyeeee!
Bullet points:

– We got to hear the soundcheck while waiting in line. The first time we heard Dave’s voice on the mic, even with just a non-sense vocal warm up, it was such a warm fuzzy feeling. After all that has gone on, hearing and seeing him again, looking and sounding like he hasn’t missed a beat was really a relief.

– The setlist was pretty awesome, ‘Come Back’ and ‘Fly on the Windscreen’ were f’ing epic. EPIC. Definately my musical highlights. I liked the new takes on some of the older, regularly played songs like ‘In Your Room’ and ‘Personal Jesus.’ Then there was ‘Master and Servant’ and ‘Strangelove’ which were bloody awesome too. Esp. since M&S hasn’t been played in over 10 years! I figured they would never play it due to embarassment, lol. My only gripe is that they didn’t play ‘Corrupt!’ I am so sad about that!

– Crowd was insanely pushy and downright dangerous getting into the venue, but was awesome and respecful once the gig started! There was room to dance and no shoving. Nearly 50k people.. wow what an experience seeing DM in Europe is! Sometimes the singing was so loud it matched the band. Even in the tunnel on the way out of the stadium, the fans were doing the wave and other things that are typical of EU DM shows. It was awesome.

OK, there’s more but I have to sleep!

(WTF, the guys at the check-in counter in the lobby of the hotel just cranked up Green Day on the PA hella loud? LOL)

Have they played M&S since World Violation?

Seriously? You guys wore the shirt of the band you're going to see (or the shirt of the lead vocalist of the band you're going to see) to the show? Really?

And seriously? You think you had a moment with Dave Gahan at this show? Like, you've really and truly convinced yourself of this? It hasn't occurred to you at all that he's a showman, doing a job, performing to the crowd? And that maybe like, a thousand or so other people (at least) probably felt that he was singing to them, too?

    Wow. Just… wow.

Hey "anonymous" I think you need to take your meds. David does choose lucky people this tour to sing to during "Fly on The Windscreen" and so yes, we know we were sung to that night. Seeing we were front row for all four shows, we also watched him do the *same* thing for other girls at the exact same time in each show. There is nothing silly about acknowledging that hey cool, we got picked. So grow up.

And what the hell is wrong with wearing a Gahan t-shirt to a Mode show? I saw many, MANY other Gahan shirts worn by fans where we were too. God, who crapped in your cornflakes? Heh..

Hey "Dingerz," I assure you, if anybody here needs to be medicated, it's the person who thinks there's any indication of Dave Gahan being able to distinguish you from any of the other black-clad masses crowded into the front row of any of the shows he plays in this:

Dave serenaded Tara and I during 'Fly on the Windscreen' for nearly two verses! We exchanged all kinds of non-verbal comm and smiles and he blew us kisses!

He blew you kisses! OMGOMG!! You exchanged all kinds of non-verbal comm! He must totally know who you are and like, see into your soul and stuff because, OMG, when he was SINGING at a CONCERT he like, TOTALLY CHOSE YOU as a POINT ON WHICH TO REST HIS EYES!

OMG! OMG! You should totally wear your number on your Hourglass shirt at the next show you go to. I'm sure he'll totally call you and want to be besties! Or even leave Jen because obviously there's no hope that he could ever duplicate such pure connection with any other human!

Or, you know, maybe he was performing, since that's, you know, what he does.

P.S.: Only overzealous tools wear the shirt of the band/artist they're going to see to the concert. For Christ's sake.

ZOMG I LOVE DM SO MUCH THAT I MUST WEAR A UNIFORM AND SHOW THEM AND EVEN MY PANTIES SAY DM BECAUSE OMG LOOK HOW HARDCORE I AM I KNOW ABOUT HOURGLASS AND OMG LET ME ADVERTISE HOW LITTLE ELSE OF MEANING EXISTS IN MY LIFE! ZOMG!

OK, obviously you don't understand what it's like to have fun. Obviously Dave is doing what he does at every show, like we said, we saw it happen to other people, but you know what? Who fcking cares! We got lucky, and we don't take ourselves so seriously that we can't appreciate it and enjoy it!

You go WAY to far with the souls/Jen comment, as nowhere did we EVER imply we had anything more than a fun moment at a gig! Jesus H. Christ.. how much does it suck to be as much of a kill joy as you? I hope I never know.

    Hey Anonymous (different Anon here),

"BAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" is all I can see from reading your comments. Grow a pair and stop being such a cynical jerk about people having a good time and a meaningful moment at a concert of a band they love very much.

Good lord, you're a big baby. Go take a nap.

Hmmm. You feel all these feelings yet you make your way to the blog of someone you do not know in order to rain on their parade. What Kind of expert are you to confirm or deny these girls experience? Hmmm? Are you really Dave in disguise? Oh I doubt you are since I'm sure you have better things to do than be a raging douche and a further example of the "greater Internet dickwad theory".

As was stated before they happened to get lucky that night. Every night someone else got that same moment. To them that was their moment. Let them have it. Having been in the presence of and shared drinks with artists in the past, they do remember faces and occationally reward those lucky enough to catch their attention. These moments in time bring them as much of a thrill as those on the other end. Often it gives them quite the ego boost to know they have that effect. You will also deny the artist his or her thrill?

My point here is that you have no right to say weather it happened or did not. Let alone dictate some perceived decorum of concerts as though you are some sort emperor. Grow up… Get over yourself… And learn to live… Rather than getting your thrills out of pushing girls around you find those special moments of your own and learn what it means to be alive.
